Western
Province Committee Members who were responsible for staging
the 2000 Nationals. Back: At Nigrini (Show Manager) Dirk
Taljaard, Koos Marais, Donald Bland. Front: Pierre le Roux,
Erina Marais (Show Secretary), Nak Smit (the then Regional
President) and Colin Wrench. The Western Province is based in
lovely Cape Town where SAFPA was inaugurated by eleven
fanciers during 1943. Cape Town was the head quaters of SAFPA
up until 1963 while the late Norman Verwey was the National
Secretary. When Mr. Verwey was not re-elected as Secretary in
1963, he and most of the Southern members broke away from
SAFPA to form the National Fancy Pigeon Union. (Read more
